Question and Answers

luvexotics Buying a new laptop. Any advise on which one? - luvexotics My last one just crashed. It was a Toshiba. I need to replace it but I am on a budget. What should I be looking for? How much difference does 1 vs 2,3,or4 gigs make? How much difference is 250 vs 320 harddrive? What is the difference in the processers it seems there are a few different ones like dual, insperon, etc. Which is best, do others work? What about the speed? My budget narrows it to an hp, toshiba, or gateway. Which would you recomend and why? I use it for pictures, to make brochures with corell professional, and for internet and games, if that helps you know what is better for me. Please do not suggest a mac or dell. I can not switch to mac because the brochures I make go to 3 other copmputers tht are PC's and need to be compatable when I e-mail them. I had a bad experiance with 4 dells all braking (same problem within a month of each other) and their help and service was horrible so I will not give them my money again. Thanks so much. Sorry so long I just want some opinions to help me decide.
Best Answer: First off, I would say buy the most expensive computer that your budget allows for. I happen to like hp and toshiba. For me, these computers have worked well for the price and I have used them for several years. If you go with HP, just avoid buying their Compaq models, as they have brought me problems. Since you are only using your computer for lighter tasks, you should be able to get by with just 2 gigs of ram. If you want, you can go higher, but you probably won't need that much. I would also recommend getting at least a dual core processor - get the fastest one you can afford. You could get quad if you can afford it, but you probably won't need the performance of it. With the hard drive, I recommend going with the larger 320 gb. It's always nice knowing you have more storage space, especially if you happen to have a lot of images. -
What is your budget What screen size are you aiming for What games do you play on that, rather the most demanding one Any other preferences ... and you will appreciate that the greater the detail you provide, the better we can narrow down New! If you dont want it to crash anytime soon you will need at least 2 or 3gb RAM, If your looking to keep it for a while and will have a lot of files i would go for 320gb, i would reccomend intel core 2 duo if your on a budget for processor, if i were to choose out of those 3 i would say hp as its more well known for computers :)
If you have a small budget , you should consider buying an Acer because they are incredibly cheap and reliable , except if you want to use them intensively . If you have Vista or Windows 7 then you should have at less 2 GB of Ram otherwise your laptop will be too slow . All Acer are shipped with decent Ram anyway .
