can u hook a wireless router up to your desktop and recieve someone elses wireles service? - Jenny
So I am trying to prove to my friend that you cant do this: He has a mac desktop and he wants to buy a wireless router...thing is there is no jack to plug into in his apartment for him to buy his own internet service (long story)...So he believes he could he buy a router of some kind and pick up on someone else's wireless internet service if they are in my vicinity or building? Mind you he has a desktop... So please tell me and explain for him that you can't do this?...lol we've got a steak dinner riding on this....
we live in the same building..and I have wireless internet...I stay a floor down...
for the wise guys..my service is secure....this is a hypothetical situation...say if I took the security off...

I want to buy a Laptop.....? - Hotlips4000 ♥☺♥
I want to purchase my first Laptop (UK), and i need some advice.

I already own a Desktop PC so i have 70% good knowledge on them already.

I want a Laptop for duties such as; Emails, Online Shopping etc etc.

Here's the Spec i want:

15:6 ->18 inch's screen size.
250-320 HD,
3/4GB RAM
Intel Duo Processor,

and my budget is the maximum of £400.

I have looked at all the High street Retail Shops Online/been to the Stores also.

Could you provide some links to ones you think that would fit my brief?

Thank you in advance. ;)
It has to be a Windows 7 Premium also! ;p
Simon m,

Thanks for that link, 500HD for £399 is not bad! :p

Computer black screen, Windows Vista wont load properly? - Jordan
Hi there,

I have just had a problem with my computer where when I turn my computer on, everything looks fine. It comes to the logon screen. I insert my password, and maybe the only noticable thing there is a little longer to load up. And then I am hit with a black screen with my documents opened up. So no windows bars or anything, just documents window and black screen.

I am able to open applications. Like I went on "Desktop" and then found firefox to open this. Other applications load aswell. But you certainly cant keep doing this just to use your computer. I pressed cntrl alt and esc to bring up the task manager. On proccesses there seems to be a lack of processes which are usually there. And explorer sometimes comes up with "not responding" or sometimes is on the list but doesnt load.

Before this happened I did notice that my computer started going slightly slower then it said "Windows is not responding". So I shut down my computer and I am now faced with this.

So far I have tried System Restore, System Repair, Booting it up from the Boot Menu, Safe Mode, pressing F8 upon start up and selecting "Use Last Working Config". None of these have worked. Does anyone have a solution?

Any help apprietiated. Thank you.

Oh, and this problem happened to me a while back but I cant think what I did to repair it, so I know my computer hasnt just broke all together :).

PSU Question - Enough power? - Logan
Hey there.
I finally got the hardware for my new 'gaming'-pc.
Everything I need to know is whether my PSU
has enough power for my system.
I wanted to buy a OCZ ModXStream 500W PSU (has 2pci-6pin connectors that the videocard needs).
Is it power full enough for
- XFX ATI Radeon 4870 1GB
- Intel Core2Duo E8400
- 2x2GB DDR2 800 (Corsair)
- ASRock P43ME (Regular desktop motherboard)
- 1 DVD ODD
- 1 HDD
When I calculate a PSU wattage like on newegg it
recommends a 399W PSU? Will my PSU be strong enough
for my specs without any loss of performance?

How to save desktop background on a mac? - Jake
I found a really interesting photograph online and I didn't think to save it to a file on my mac.

Instead, I just right clicked and set it to background. I wanted to change my desktop background today but, I didn't want to lose my old image for good.

Even though I set it to the background did the computer save it to another file destination that I'm unaware of?
OR,
Is there anyway I can save my current background as an image so I don't lose it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

PLS HELP- Blank desktop- Im using a DELL laptop w/ WINDOWS 7 ... just new!? - ~*RAWK PRINZZEZZ*~
The probs began after I installed Magic Disk(no idea what that is) but I uninstalled it now and the prob still remains. Upon startup, desktop is blank and resembles a plain blank Internet explorer page and even refreshes like it :-S. I checked the task manager- and closed all unnecessary apps. Each time I wanna view desktop I have to click WINDOWS button on the keyboard and then click show desktop on the taskbar. If I open any icon, the background screen goes blank and shows NO DESKTOP. Whats the problem, can someone suggest something? Thanks.
*** I ALREADY FIXED IT MYSELF, DELETED ALL THE UNNECESSARY PROGS. THX, AND I WILL CHOOSE A BEST ANSWER :)
