How do i restore my .lnk files ?

Recently i accidently opened a .lnk file with windows media player and i didn't realise it had open all file types with this program checked and then it made every single .lnk file on my laptop try to open with windows media player so everything on my desktop and start menu all try to open with windows media player i try to create new shortcuts for everything but it still does it. i dont know what to do. It gets annoying having to go to the folder in program files to open anything all the time.
I tryed to uninstal windows media player but it left me with just blank lnk files anytime you open anything it asks you what program you want to use.

Virus Program - Get outta my laptop!!?

A virus program called "System Defender" has found it's way onto my laptop. It tells me I have viruses, well, ones that aren't real. It tries to get me to buy their program. I am not thick so don't give me a lecture. On my AVG and Windows Defender it can't recognise the virus or the file as malicious. AVG keeps finding cookies under "C:/Users/Luke/AppData/Roaming/System Defender" however when I go looking in "Roaming" System Defender isn't there. I have hidden files/folders on. But this is different, can anybody tell me how to get rid of this? It happened before on my other computer and it had to get completely wiped. Help me!
I also went into task manager and closed the program via processes and I closed the tray icon.

ok like 3days ago i accidentally spilled soda all over my laptop and i used towels and a heat gun to get all the soda out and melted 4 number pad keys and all the buttons i have to mash hard and everyone that i push it cracks and clicks loud can someone please help me i want to know how to clean it

I am buying an alienware m17x laptop...I'm not completely maxing it out here's what I'm getting:

What I'm getting is pretty much set in stone unless there is something that I should REALLY change...but will I be able to play most recent games like MW2, Supreme Commander, and Crysis on high settings?
I don't need any alternative computer suggestions thank you very much.

wireless internet for my laptop?

I just purchased my first laptop Sony Vaio thinking all I would have to do is purchase a wireless internet card and I would never have to pay for monthly service plans. Is this possible? Does anyone know where or what brand would work best? I see people selling internet cards on ebay can I connect if I do that. I'm looking just to use my laptop around my house and maybe take it with me around the city and not pay for monthly a plan.

Do the manufacturers go through the hardware? Would they be able to find out what sites you visited? (even after you erase everything)--wipe the memory
