First of all, if you're determined to pry out chips so you can use aftermarket print cartridges, good luck to you.
Second, this printer prints photos that you can't tell from photo lab photos. Great quality.
Third, it's EXCELLENT for b/w documents. Not blazing fast, but it's a home machine.
Only downer -- it's pretty big. Hope your shelf is reasonably large. But the price is VERY right, and the quality is excellent for the price.

Got it for Christmas, and it's GREAT. Sound quality excellent; the disks hold 18-20 songs in WMA format, which is plenty for me. Software was easy; controls are fine. I'm flying cross-country, and a couple of extra disks should fix me up for the trip!
Available for $99.00 lots of places, if it's in stock! (see www.mp3shopping.com for a better price, though . . . if they're not OUT)>

If you can't make this puppy work, you probably can't run your computer, either. Good sound; easy interface. The 32-MB cards aren't that big a limitation -- if you burn your MP3s to WMAs, it holds HOURS of tunes. With the $50 rebate, it's a serious value.
