Ive had this phone for a year. I knew I wouldnt be very good about taking care of a phone or charging it, so I decided to get a phone that had the longest standby time I could find as well as a phone that wasnt too delicate.
The sales guy in the store demoed the phone by dropping it four feet onto the floor. Ive never purposely dropped the phone and Ive never had a problem. The specs say the standby time is up to 400hrs.
The best Ive ever gotten is about 7 days, or about 160 hrs. Now that the battery is a year old (about 100 charging cycles) its good for about 3 days or about 70 hrs. The plug for the charger and headset are one and the same and
its a Panasonic proprietary connector. So you cant use the headset while its charging. (The Panasonic car charger lets you charge in the car and use the headset at the same time.)
I did see some plug adapters on-line (once) that let you convert the connector so you could use any standard plug headset. Id say the proprietary connector is the biggest draw back.
The phone has its own list of ring tones, but you cant download ring tones onto this model. I actually did care and I almost bought a different Panasonic model that accepted downloads (so Ive got boring ring tones.)
A year ago I paid about $120 (or twice what theyre asking now). It was an ok deal then, its a pretty good deal now. Its not very stylish. In fact Id say its anti-stylish, almost ugly/retro.
I havent had any problems with the phone so I havent had to use the support.
This is the phone Rambo would have taken into the field. Tough, long battery life, no style, no games, no fancy ring tones.
The phone is good (4). If it had a standard headset jack and programmable ring tones I would have rated it excellent (5).
