Unreliable04/08/06

Pros:

this printer has the functions and speed I was looking for. When I was able to obtain a print, the quality was good.

Cons:

I went through three printers before finally giving up and returning the product to the point of purchase. None of the printers would print both plain paper and photo.

I was never able to obtain a unit that was fully functional.
The first one did not recognize that there was paper in the 8x10 tray. The second one would not recognize that all of the print cartridges were installed. The third one produced an error message regarding the carriage. I tried the documentation, and online help, and made multipe attempts to resolve these issues with HP customer support. Their answer to everything was that it was a hardware problem and that they would send out another printer. I still don't know if the product was that unreliable or if the customer support was just not knowledgable.
