I've had this HD for about a year and it's great. Fast, reliable and not terribly bulky or heavy. My only gripe is that it can only be formatted for a PC OR a Mac, but not both (lame). This is not in the manuals, but was quickly learned via WD's customer service.

Have had the 3040 for 3 years and aside from a missing pixel, it's still as reliable as the day I bought it. In auto-mode it takes great shots without a lot of set up. The white balance detection can sometimes be a little "off" in mixed lighting situations, but is easily overriden for precise WB control.
It allows for a manual mode where you can set F and aperature speed which is great if you have the time to adjust your settings. Otherwise manual mode is very slow and not good for situations with continuously changing lighting conditions.
The camera itself is a perfectly sized, enough to hang onto, but small enough to make it a great camera to travel with. The UI for both the camera controls and the software is, in my opinion, one of the best on the market. An added bonus: Olympus has pretty good standardization across its cameras so if you get another Olympus you pretty much already know how it works.
