Pros:
Ease of use, small size, clear screen
Cons:
Poor reception in large cities w/tall buildings

I've used many GPS systems, mostly ones that come with the vehicle from the factory. After playing with the TomTom 700, I chose not to pay $2000 to Toyota to add built-in GPS to my latest vehicle and opted for the external TomTom device. Now I have the freedom of taking the unit with me when I travel for business. I never feel lost in a new city any longer. The TomTom 700 passes what I call 'my mom test'. The interface is so simple and intuitive that I would recommend the product to my mother. To date, I've only had to open the manual for one thing. It was on how to add addresses to my favorites list.
