I just got off the phone with HP for the third time due to my HP Scanjet 4670 breaking for the fourth time. First one broke on 6/9/04 after having purchased it in January of 2004. The service was very helpful, overnighted me a replacement free of charge and included a return label for the faulty product.
Second time I called HP was on 6/29/04, same thing happened, in the midst of scanning the scanner just quits and gets stuck about a third of the way before reaching it's home position and the product is hot to the touch right at the buttons on the scanner itself. This time had to pay for the overnight shipment, $20 to be exact, but they still put in a pre-paid return label.
Well, just got off the phone with them again on 8/16/04, same exact thing, in the midst of scanning the scanner just quits, being stuck before it reaches its "home". Now however they are telling me that the product is on a 10 day back log and they won't even be able to send it to me before the end of the month. This is a vital product for my needs, we scan blue prints into the system to be able to create bids and everything else.
So, I think the concept of having a freestanding product without a lid is awesome, especially for scanning larger objects like blue prints and then having them in a 8.5x11 format, however the product seems quite faulty and of course I can't get HP to tell me what the issue might be. There's no mishandling of the product in any way and they know that since they have received the returned items.
Very frustrated at this time!
