The two features that made me choose this model over all the others available, was the stereo sound, and the built in cam that allows you to record video as well as still pictures.
The Still Photos can be of resolutions of :
160x120
320x240
640x480
1280x960
And for video you get:
160x120
320x240
The downside of this is the cam is only 1.2 MegaPixel, so you won't be making major motion pictures, but it is nice enough to use for normal quick pics, and videos.
To record video you must have a SD card (1 Gig max according to Palm's website)
I strongly recomend getting a SD card for this palm. It makes it possible to not only store video, but to also play and record audio files.
The Audio Recorder come in VERY handy when you need to record a quick reminder to yourself of something that comes to mind and don't necessarily want to take time to write it down:
"Don't forget to get milk" as an example
The Zire 72 Comes with built in BlueTooth, which is nice, but not what I use. You can get an external WiFi card for it if you choose.
Connection of your palm 72 to the PC is with USB, or by BlueTooth. Serial connection is available, but you will have to buy the cord seperatly.
Software that comes with the Palm72 is the standard stuff that has been on Palm Pilots forever: Address Book, Calendar, Calculator, Memo Pad, Dialer, World Clock, Note Pad, etc. It also comes with a CD that has the PC Desktop software, Adobe Reader for Palm, Documents to Go (allows you to use MS Word, and MS Excel documents), an Email Program, a basic Web Browser, Real Player for Palm, as well as others.
You can of course gets thousands of other programs for the palm, that are very useful, and are either inexpensive or free on the internet.
All in all it is just a great gadget, that let me leave my MP3 Player, DigiCam, CamCorder, and Handheld gaming system at home. This does it all.
