I very much like my Pioneer 5050HD TV. The sound is like unbelievable with just the standard speakers. My complaint is that the 4:3 format while good in quality, causes burn in on the edges where Pioneer attempts a blended border. By this, it's rarely black, mostly grey on the side. Because most t.v. is still in the 4:3 ratio burn in is almost instant. I've had the t.v. for less than 2 months and now in the 16:9 I have a lighter shade of color exactly where the 4:3 radio resides. Inside their instruction book they put a "sticker" in stating in part, "The following are typical effects and characteristics of a phosphor-based matrix display, and as such are not covered by the manufacturer's limited warranties:
. Permanent residual images upon the phosphors of the panel.
Tomorrow, I call Pioneer and express my displeasure. A $5,000 television should not be subject to a longevity of a quality picture to less than 2 months!
