I purchased the 2GB silver 2nd generation nano one week after purchasing the black 80GB Hard Drive 5th generation iPod. I love them both and each has their advantages/disadvantages. This nano is extremely convenient to carry being very compact and weighing next to nothing in your top pocket. The only real problem (other than sacrificing portability which definitely costs more over storage size) is the high pitched WHINE that the unit makes when it is in operation. WHAT CAUSES THIS? !!! Other than that the unit works GREAT.
The only other drawback is that the only games that can be played upon the unit are the ones already downloaded in the original software installation. Other iPod models are able to play purchased games and keep track of your address book and calendar from your PC based equipment. The nano is not capable of this probably due to the above mentioned storage capacity.
I'd still recommend this, however, because the portablilty and being able to listen to about 500 or so songs is well worth it. I purchased mine at one of the actual Apple retail stores at the regular retail price of $149 and I still feel that this is a good product that does what it says it will. THANKS APPLE, just try to do something about the whine as I understand I'm not the only one who has complained about this issue.
