Kids care about the environment. That's what the creative minds behind kids' educational web sites have found, and they are designing "green" web sites where kids can come to share ideas for conserving power and saving the planet.

I pointed to a PBS web show called "Meet the Greens" in this post. Now, Scholastic has launched a new web site called "Act Green" for kids, teachers, and parents. The site is all about action. You can click to read through 100 ways to "green" yourself, your home, and your school.

"Take five-minute showers for one week."

"Carpool for one week."

"Have a waste-free class party."

It's all presented in quick, easy-to-read and possible-to-execute ideas. There's also a Green Room, where kids can post ideas or chat about environmental issues on a monitored message board. Parents can find lots of well-written articles on how to live a green family life, starting with getting outdoors together.

If you're looking for ways to explore how you and your kids can make a difference beginning at home, Act Green is a good place to start.
