Really, is there anything the sun couldn't do? I just put together a list of ten must have solar-powered gadgets that includes solar radios, water bottles, and patio lights, then I find a solar-powered grill to complete the barbecue experience.
Tammock's Solar Grill uses the power of the sun to barbecue chicken, fish, steaks, and burgers without the need for gas or electricity. Instead, it uses the two flexible mirrored surfaces to focus all the sun's rays towards a panel in the middle where the food is placed. It doesn't say how long it takes to cook a juicy steak, but if you pointed in the right direction, Coolest Gadgets says the grill could heat up to the point of actually burning your food. The grill costs about $240, and would be a safe alternative to firing up the grill in places with fire restrictions.
Like grills, air conditioners and boats are usually operated when it's sunny outside, so it makes a lot of sense to make solar powered versions of these machines. I wonder how long before people who are suppose to be "roughing it" will be able to power up their flat screen TV inside the solar-powered, air conditioned tent? My guess is we're only a few years away.

I wonder if we would get any harmful rays from the sun from our sun cooked product? This product would work well in CO where we have little atmosphere and hot sun.

It would work well in my office with no window. I can't use a regular BBQ because I don't have windows to blow the smoke out of.

good idea. I've actually used a cast iron skillet on a van's engine to cook before (they run very hot).
