I'm following up my last post on Free Tools for the Internet Entrepreneur Grad with more freebies that would help anyone set up a virtual office. The first post covered tools to design a killer website without having to buy expensive software to get started. But once you've set up a website, you'll need tools to help you stay in touch with customers. As a new business owner, you'll want to save money by taking advantage of free services already available online until your business grows. Here are a few highly recommended services:
Faxing and Voicemail Services
There was a time when free faxing services were available everywhere, but today they're harder to find. I managed to find FaxZero, which sends PDF or Word documents to any fax number for free to anyplace in the U.S. and Canada. However, it prints a small ad on the coversheet to offset costs, and you're limited to 2 faxes under 10MB per day. You can't receive faxes through FaxZero either, so you'll need a service like K7.net to receive faxes and voicemail directly to your email account. The service provides you with a free phone number you can hand out to anyone who wants to contact you via fax or voicemail.
Internet Calling Services
Skype might be the most popular service available to take care of your free Internet calling, but on the downside you'll need a headset or microphone to get started. Robin has this quick review of JaJah, which you can use to make long-distance calls using your landline phone. You don't need sign a contract, download software, or buy phone accessories to get get started either. You simply sign up for an account, set up your call, and wait for your phone to ring. The only downside is, your buddy needs to be a JaJah registered user for the call to be free. Otherwise, the call will cost you about 2.8 cents per minute.
GrandCentral also has a lot to offer to the Internet business owner who wants a way to keep their personal number private. The service assigns you a free local number you can handout to anyone, then use it to route calls between your cell phone, home, or office number. It also gives you the option to screen calls, allowing you to send them to voicemail or reject them completely. A useful feature if you don't have time for telemarketers.
This is just a handful of tools that seem to be pretty popular among Internet users. If you know of any service you think should be included in this list, please share it with us in the comments below.

GotFreeFax.com is another website that lets user send free fax online to the US and Canada. User can either upload a PDF/Word file or enter text to fax. Plus, it does not add Ads to user's fax, which makes it suitable for faxing formal documents.
