Every year, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) enlists the support of those in the fashion world in order to raise awareness and funds to assist women with breast cancer. This year, T-Mobile, who sponsored the CFDA Fashion Awards, invited fashion designers like Betsey Johnson, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Tommy Hilfiger to customize a one-of-a kind T-Mobile Sidekick 3 for a special auction. A total of 15 customized Sidekicks are currently being auctioned on eBay until September 25 with 100% of each winning bid going directly to FTBC.
What's great is that no two designs are alike. Some designers covered their Sidekick 3 with Swarovski crystals, others used graphics, but to me the most creative designs were of beautiful faceplates that covered the back of the Sidekick. Justin Giunta’s Napoleonic Bee Charm made of Swarovski crystal pearls and chain tassels is absolutely gorgeous. He says he wanted to "create something that will retain its beauty long after the technology it houses becomes obsolete." I'm not a fan of bees, but I love the effort he put into this project all the way from the name to the unique case that will house the phone. If I had a Sidekick 3, and the money, I'd keep my eye on this design. It gets my vote for most original, that's for sure.
Why don't you take a look at some of the other designs and tell me what you think?
