Marriage Proposals Go Geek

Proposing to a girl in the digital age is getting geekier these days. Some men have resorted to their blogs, others have done it through video games, iPod engravings, comics and code, search engines, and yes, even through YouTube.

My all-time favorite proposal was by Rand who set up a website and raised $75,000 for his Super Proposal. He planned to raise enough money to buy an ad during the Super Bowl, which would have have been witnessed by 130 million viewers, making it the most public declaration of love in the history of mankind. But after things with CBS didn't pan out, he decided to air the commercial during his girlfriend's favorite TV show, Veronica Mars. You have to watch the video to see his girlfriend's reaction. It's priceless. Geeksugar covers the story here.

Since geek proposals are the latest trend, a California-based company has decided to give ring boxes a little makeover. Euri created a multi-media jewelry box that houses a tiny two-inch LCD display inside that automatically plays video, audio or displays photos once it's opened. Too nervous to utter those four words? No worries, let the Euricase do it for you.

The box sells in several metallic colors, and contains an alarm clock, calendar, and photo-album that holds over 500 pictures. Multimedia files are loaded to the box using a USB connection, and to add to the charm, the box even has LED perimeter lighting to set the mood. It's a nice touch, but nothing tops the Super Proposal. What do you think? Do you know of any geeky proposals that top Rand's?
