I've been talking incessantly about Griffin's Evolve Wireless Speakers. If there's anything you should know about me is that I hate wires and love anything wireless. Well, I finally got my hands on the Evolve Wireless Speaker system and loved it. I'm even adding it to my Christmas list because this is the system to have for any party.
Just to give you an idea, the system consists of a elegant aluminum charging station that holds two detachable, cube-shaped speakers, an RF remote control, and several iPod trays you can use to fit any iPod on there. Once it was out of the box, I plugged in the base (which is not wireless) and placed the speakers on it to charge them for a few hours. A green or red LED indicator light in the speaker tells you when they're fully charged, and ready to rock and roll. Once charged, you can pick up each speaker using a rubberized grip on the back, and place them wherever you want. Unlike most iPod speakers, you can actually stream music throughout your house up to 150 feet away.
I live in a tri-level home, and was able to place a speaker upstairs and one downstairs, and still control what was playing on my iPod thanks to the special RF remote control. This is great for parties or get-togethers, when you want to skip through slow songs to keep the party going. You obviously have to charge the speakers frequently, but one charge should last for about 10 hours, which it did.
There were times when the music would fade in and out due to the speakers being placed too far from the base, but for the most part, this issue was minimal and happened only a few times. The back of the base has several connections for audio out, video out, S-Video, and audio in, so you can hook up other devices, including the video iPod to get more out of the system. The sound quality was excellent and very loud for speakers of that size. Several iPod trays are included, so Evolve is compatible with new and older iPod models, including the iPod Touch.
Overall, the system is beautiful and sounds great for being wireless. It's a bit on the pricey side at $300, but I think it's worth every penny. I can't wait to get one I can keep.

Just bought it, sounds great, i like the rubber grips. Works everywhere in my house. The remote is kind of low tech, doesn't do much of value except volume and advancing. It should have a window that lets you totally control the ipod, wouldn't have been too hard to manage. I wonder if you can program a Harmony remote to operate this?
Does anyone know if there is a way to the speakers to work with my laptop? For example using a usb device. Even better if the laptop could be connect remotely maybe with wireless usb to usb?
