LadyBag won't let you leave home without your wallet

Forgetting essential items at home, like your wallet or cell phone, may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to six women attending the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University in Canada. These students have developed a purse called the LadyBag that keeps track of its contents using RFID sensors.

The RFID sensors are small enough affix to anything you don't want to leave behind, which the ladies assume would include your wallet, keys, and cell phone. If one of the tagged items is missing from the bag, a small icon that represents the missing object lights up on the outside of the purse to alert you before you walk out the door.

Another function of the LadyBag is its ability to display its owner's emotional state, based on physical interaction with the bag. The bag has sensors throughout, so if its carrier wants to show the world she's happy, she can hug the sides of the bag to produce a smiling emoticon. Fiddling with the zipper produces a nervous emoticon.

The LadyBag's fun, young women creators created it with fun, young women in mind. So it's perfect for those who wish to express themselves or just need a little help keeping track of their gear. I doubt it will be in stores anytime soon, since this bag is still in prototype form. But the ladies are working on making it available to all someday.

hello gina, with the advent of emissions from infrared equipment hope there will not be an issue of transfered emissions that could be harmful to the human, taking the rise of breast cancer in women into consideration.?

Emissions.... Infrared = sunlight = Hot /// RF = radio = cell phone /// RFID = also radio = but less than 1% emissions of cell phone.. Choose the least harmful you wish... I like this for my lady.. only other would be a ring worn by the lady that when the purse gets to far away t6hat it would wake the neighborhood.... that would be great theft deterrent!!!... (sorry first post got clipped)

It's hard to know what to think of all of the "technological advancements" we're being bombarded with these days. I miss the simple days of old. Handling business may have been more time consuming but for some reason, I had more peace of mind. As you can tell, I'm not a big fan of technology.

I can't wait for something like this to come out. I have actually thought of an idea like this where there should be some kind of "alarm/alert" that sounds if you walk out your door if you forget to take your electronic essentials with you! On another note: perhaps we are getting more forgetful to bring our stuff with us due to the emissions from infrared? hmmmm, it's like the chicken and egg paradox. :)

I think it is awesome! Women will actualy care about their purses, treating it like a pet, or child.

I would prefer a bag with a bright lining and that lights up when opened. Some bags come with a light which is either easy to lose or difficult to turn on. I prefer to see the contents easily rather than high tech gizmos which do not know that on certain days I need 2 sets of keys and a camera.

This sounds very cool, especially because me mother is known to loose stuff like that. She is always loosing her keys. I just think that the showing your emotion?? That's very cheesey and I don't like that part. Otherwise, very good idea, as long as it's fashionable!! No Bliss, then it won't cell. No matter what it does people won't buy it if it looks ugly. That's a fact! I also think it has to be bulky! I like how it was put that it is like the chicken & the egg paradox. ~Steph age 13

What about a device similar to this for children left in car seats, that an alarm goes off when the door is open or when the car is turned off??
