Remember when men used to get on one knee to pop the question? Times have changed, and gadget-loving guys are getting more creative with their marriage proposals these days. I've heard of people engraving iPods, turning to their blogs, or even creating widgets to pop the big question, but the latest geek proposal involves a Nintendo DS and a simple video game that's not even available for the DS.

Bernie Peng spent an entire month recreating "Bejeweled" for the Nintendo DS. He then presented the game to his girlfriend, and when she finally hit a certain low score, the game flashed a digital pink sapphire ring with Peng's marriage proposal. His blog, which has all the details along with pictures, is now getting a great deal of attention from gaming blogs, the mainstream media, and even from PopCap, the company who manufacturers "Bejeweled."

The Star Ledger reports PopCap is so impressed with Peng, it offered to pay for part of the wedding by supplying wedding guests with copies of "Bejeweled 2 Deluxe," throwing in $1,000 for jewel theme wedding decorations, and flying the couple to Seattle for their honeymoon.

Now that's a smart man right there. I just hope they buy his game since he already did all the work, and make it available on the DS soon.
