A while back, I told
you the best way to keep GPS thieves at bay was to keep mountable GPS systems
out of sight. The mistake most people do, though, is hide the GPS system in
their glove box and leave the GPS mount attached to the window. This results
in broken windows, ransacked cars, and angry GPS owners who now have to replace
a window and buy another GPS system.
Some tipsters in my previous article mentioned their use of a bean bag dash mount, and Red Ferret spotted one that looks pretty useful and affordable. The Bracketron Nav-Mat GPS Dash Mount is a small bean bag that turns any windshield mounted GPS into a dash mounted system. Like most bean bags, the weight distributes evenly throughout for stability, and it safely attaches to any surface due to a non-slip base.
The Nav-Mat can support most GPS systems regardless of size, and tools aren't required since it includes a metal mounting surface that works fine with most windshield mounts. The best part is you can hide the bean bag under your seat and avoid those telling suction cup rings on your windshield. You can find the Nav-Mat GPS Dash mount online for about $30 or less.

I use the round disc provided by Garmin. Works fine and brings the GPS very close in for 72 year old eyeballs. I also drilled right into the dashboard once. The little holes were easy to fill in and texture when I traded in the car. NUVI 205W is anti glare.
I bought the bean bag mat from Radio Shack for $20. It just sits on the dash and really stays put. I couldn't use my GPS mount on my dash and in California we aren't suppose to mount anything on the windshield. Easy to use and easy to move made this mat a great purchase for me.
I have a bean bag but use velcro, I put one side on the dash and the other on the bottom of the GPS.It works great and is easy to move from car to car, or for rentals it's easier than carrying the bean bag. Hope this helps.
I live in California and we can no longer mount GPS units to the window. This works great for my Magellan with the original window mount and I found it on line at Amazon for only $11.38. It stays on the dash without being attached and I have had no problems using it.

I bought one of these at Amazon for under $12. It's wonderful! It stays firmly in place and doesn't distract me from driving at all.
