Franklin Wireless was showing off its USB modems, and PC cards at CTIA, but what caught my attention was the MID-F1 Mobile Internet Device the company was showing off. Netbooks have been creating a lot of buzz lately because of their size and low price, but the F1 is different in that it also doubles as a navigation unit and breathalyzer device.

The compact tablet features a nice 7-inch touch screen with a virtual keyboard, and has a built in 3G card so you can connect to the Web from the road. It's loaded with Windows XP, has a 30GB hard drive, 1GB memory, and plenty of USB ports to connect your other gizmos.

When you're not working on email or a Powerpoint presentation, you can just mount the device on your dash and use it as navigation system. The prototype version on display even had a breathalyzer to measure your alcohol content level, but reps tell me this feature is only for fun and they're not sure if the final product will also include one.

The F1 Mobile Internet Device will be out in November and will cost approximately $1,000. Check out some more images of the F1 in our CTIA Flickr stream.
