Netbooks are great for traveling, but if you just want a lightweight computer
with a full-sized keyboard and screen, check out the razor-thin Asus Eee PC
S101. The ultra-thin laptop looks a lot like Apple's
MacBook Air except this one is cheaper, lighter, and has a slightly smaller
screen.
Weighing in at just 2.2 lbs, the Eee PC S101 has a 10.2-inch LED screen, an Intel Atom processor, solid state drive, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, and a multi-touch pad. I'm pretty sure Asus is going after the female consumer with this stunning laptop, since the S101 was launched at a fashion show and has tiny Swarovski crystals decorating the hinges.
No matter, I'm sure men too will like the computer that's already being called the MacBook Air killer.
Mobile Computer got their hands on the notebook, and posted a full review on its site. Apparently, there will be three configurations that include a Windows XP version with a 16GB SSD, and two Linux versions with a 32GB and 64GB solid state drives. It looks like the computer is already available overseas in three colors including brown, champagne and graphite and retails for under $799. The company hasn't mentioned a U.S.release, so check back for details.
