Flatshare is a modular fridge anyone living with roomates should have. Stephan Buchberger
from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria, designed it and won the
Electrolux Design Lab 2008 competition, which earned him a cash prize and a
six-month internship at Electrolux.
Flatshare is only a concept at the time, but the idea is so awesome it should go into production immediately. The fridge consists of a base and four stackable modules that allow four individuals to have their own refrigerator space. These modules have handles, and are portable enough to take with you whenever you move out.
Even as a concept, the fridge has accessories such as customizable color skins, bottle openers, and even a white board to write notes. Stephan says he got the idea for the fridge after sharing a flat with a few friends who weren't so keen on keeping a clean fridge.
He says his design lets every person be responsible for their own space, and spares the rest of the roomies fromĀ foul odors or old leftovers. Flatshare is ideal for college students, young professionals, or anyone living with roomates.
What do you think? Would you benefit from something like Flatshare?
