I've been showing my friends the Techie Diva themed Flip Mino HD I received a couple of weeks ago, and they're loving it. The Flip Mino HD made its debut back in November, and Alex wrote it in his quick hands-on review of the device. As he mentioned in his post, the Flip Mino HD comes with 4GB of internal flash memory that can store up to one hour of recording in 16:9 widescreen at 1280x720 pixels. It also includes has a TV-out port, touch-sensitive buttons, and a retractable USB cable.

Aside from being extremely sleek, the front of the Flip MinoHD can be customized so you can show off your favorite artwork, photos, or logo. To make this possible, Flip teamed up with Cafe Press who happens to have an incredible design tool. You can choose to decorate your Flip MinoHD with your own images, other people's artwork, or use a pattern generator tool for something totally abstract. I uploaded my Techie Diva avatar, and I'm pretty satisfied with the overall results.

As far as the quality of the video goes, I thought it looked pretty good on YouTube in either normal or high quality mode. You can see a video I shot with it here. Listen to the audio. I loved how the microphone picks up your voice very clearly. The pocket-cam has tiny speakers on both sides of the LCD which I thought sounded great.

The touch-sensitive buttons below the screen can be somewhat annoying because they're too sensitive, but I like the fact that they're extremely responsive. There were times when I came close to deleting my videos. Luckily, the camera features a "child safe" mode to prevent this from happening.

There are four touch buttons around a big red recording button to control volume and rewind/fast forward features. The play/pause and delete button are located right under the 1.5-inch color screen, and stand out from the other touch-sensitive buttons because of the concave surface.

Uploading videos is very easy since they're saved in an MP4 file format, which is compatible with most video sharing sites like YouTube, so anyone can use it. The Flip MinoHD includes software, a soft case, TV cable, wrist strap, and a quickstart manual. You can find more information about it at www.theFlip.com.

This is a great holiday gift, so check it out if you've got a YouTube star on your holiday list.

I'm waiting to get a Vivatar..same price..but it will upgrade my security system..I prefer my Camcorder and DV-tape..and would never create Digital Movies with a USB cable.
