Now that we know the iPhone will be offered only through Cingular this Summer, I'm sure many iPod enthusiasts will be looking for ways to get out of their cell phone contracts. As you know, getting out of your contract isn't going to happen without paying a hefty early termination fee that can be as high as $250 per phone. For this reason, many companies today take advantage of a loophole in cell phone contracts that allows consumers to transfer the remaining time to someone else as long as they pass a credit check.

Tom recommends CellTrade USA and Resellular.com, yet another service is now available called CellSwapper. The company says they can help you find someone to take over your cell phone contract so you can avoid paying those termination fees, but the actual transfer has to be completed through your cell phone provider. To increase your chances of finding that someone, they recommend you offer an incentive such as a free phone or cash incentive. Posting is free, but there is a $15 success charge when you sell your plan.
