Exercising without music is torture. Everyone needs that extra motivational push that you only get from your power song. Mine is usually some heavymetal tune that makes me feel like I can sprint or run for another five minutes. It's good to get out of the gym sometimes, and enjoy the great outdoors; but if a proposed legislation attempting to ban iPods at crosswalks ever passes, runners like myself who can't live without their workout tunes will be forced to hit the treadmills or wear this adorable, yet dorky speaker system. That is, until they ban them too!
Safe Sound Sports created the SSPS-1 clip-on speaker system that wants to keep your music loving hiney "aware of your surroundings" by replacing those isolating earbuds with a pair of personal speakers you clip on your shirt. They work with any MP3 player, including the iPod, and are powered by the player itself. It's a strange concept, and one I'm not sure I'd want myself. I mean, what if your workout playlist still includes Britney Spears? Yeah, not something I want to share with the world.
