We all love free stuff, don't we? There are a lot of good folks out there that want to recycle their unwanted items instead of throwing them away. This is extremely good for the planet and for college students looking for furniture to decorate their first apartment too. Spring cleaning is around the corner, so when you start sorting out stuff in your basement, keep in mind that there are locals in your area who would love to take those items from your hands.

Here are a few sites where you can give away unwanted items, as well as find a few free ones for yourself:

FreeCycle: I recently told you about FreeCycle, a website where eco-friendly citizens recycle their unwanted items by giving them away to others. Users can find some pretty cool items in their area, and all you have to do to get it is reply to the ad. All items listed are free, so you can either give or get neat stuff.

Gigoit: Again, those who use this site do so under one condition: the item listed must be a gift. The site allows users to also post up to three images of the items they're giving away, as well as offer tools such as Google Gadget, Google Earth and RSS feeds that keeps you posted on all the latest listings.

Craigslist:
By far one of the best sites out there. Users can post free classifieds under categories such as personal, housing, for sale, services, and more. Tools such, as RSS feeds and widgets, can be useful when you're job or househunting. Lifehacker has a good post on how to use some of the available tools.

Does anyone know of any similar sites? Let me know in the comments below.
