A few weeks back I outlined some of the top titles for grown-up (read: blood-spewing) gaming this holiday season. Now it's the kids' turn. Check out these child-appropriate titles, available for a variety of platforms (but mostly handhelds). All are well reviewed and carry a maximum ESRB rating of E10+ (suitable for everyone 10 and older).

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (360) - Round three for this dynamic duo has you on a massive adventure, building custom vehicles to ride around in from hundreds of parts. Bargain priced for an Xbox 360 title.

LittleBigPlanet (PS3) - As mentioned in my games for adults list, this unique, unbelievably cute platformer lets up to four friends tackle the small stuff, scene by scene.

Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS) - Kirby's bouncing, burping, bubbling adventures continue -- while also including the original game modes from the Super NES version of Kirby Super Star. Wi-Fi ready to play head to head against a friend.

BlastWorks (Wii) - You can build and trade vehicles with this simplistic shooter... but it's the "destroy" part of the game that kids will like most.

Ninjatown (DS) - Dirt cheap at 15 bucks, this is the kid-friendliest ninja game you'll ever play (it's rated E). Won't you take me to Ninjatown?

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise (DS) - A portable version of the addictive sleeper title Viva Piñata, including additional species to collect on top of those from the Xbox 360 edition.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) - Jammed full of brain-teasing puzzles, this acclaimed Japanese port teaches logic while kids play through 130-plus levels. Don't tell them it's learnin'!

Pet Pals: Animal Doctor (DS, Wii, PC) - For some reason, kids love taking care of sick animals. If you don't already have an aspiring vet in the family, you will after they get ahold of this game.

Nanostray 2 (DS) - A straight-up, old-school, spaceship shooter, this retro title is super inexpensive and action packed, including numerous classic arcade game simulators.

Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys (DS) - The tongue-in-cheek humor here is designed for the sarcastic youth on your shopping list, as you take control of a variety of zombie characters to shamble through a series of platformer quests.

I wish Ninjatown was only $15. No, it is for $30. During Black Friday, Best Buy gave a 50% off discount.
