Lenovo -- home of the hallowed ThinkPad -- is hopping into the renewed all-in-one craze with its own entry into the field, the IdeaCentre A600.

Formally unveiling at CES this week, the product will hit the market (tentatively) in April.

Featuring a 21.5-inch screen (with an 16:9 aspect ratio), the A600 boasts a thickness of just 27mm, which Lenovo claims makes it the slimmest all-in-one PC on the market. I can't verify that claim explicitly, but I'm hard-pressed to name a thinner all-in-one.

Many of the ThinkPad's standard features are also available on the A600, including face recognition security, the Lenovo rescue system, Dolby-certified audio, and a nearly-edgeless display design that takes the screen almost all the way to the corners. The A600 also includes touch-sensitive controls and an "air mouse" (with additional DVD/TV/media center features) that allows for table-free control. The remote also doubles (triples?) as a wireless VOIP handset for making Internet phone calls; now that's a cool idea.

A Blu-ray drive and a TV tuner are both standard.

Pricing was not immediately available, but I love the look of the A600 and its high-end feature set (up to a 1TB hard drive, 4 gigs of RAM, etc.). Can't wait to see one in the flesh!

Priced at US$1000 + for these features. Any comments?

ravi, i think the $1000 is the bare setup. the ATI graphics chip is optional and the 4GB of ram is the max not the standard setup. same goes with 1TB. they didn't say what the $1000 can get you. but the price is not bad for a sleek machine.

They said the price will "go north or the starting price of $999 quickly depending on how many options you want installed." For me this has all the downfalls of the desktop PC and the laptop put together- AIO setups (like laptops) tend to be ludicrously expensive to fix, and desktop PCs have no portability... great job!

Well on the way to a stand alone networked pc in every room of the house hanging from the wall to play your music, movies, photos, works of art saved as jpgs, control your room temperature, wake you up at the scheduled time & now you can call mom from the remote! NICE! Keep the Ideas Coming. The New Age is right outside the door - everyone better install the fiber optics now - cause were gonna go the speed of light! Totally Electrifying!!!!
