Cell phone cameras are getting better and better at taking pictures. Among the tips:

• Lighting is key with cameraphones. Turn on every light you can before you shoot.
• Closer is better. Resolution is so poor on most cameraphones that every pixel counts. You want your subject to fill the fame almost completely. Zooming is useless, either in camera or with editing software.
• Check out your "white balance" feature. Most people don't understand or ever use them, but many cameraphones offer white balance controls that let you modify the color of the picture and correct what may very well be a glaring imbalance. You'll probably have to check your phone's manual for details.
• Clean your lens. When the phone rubs up against your sweaty Chap Stick that isn't going to help anything.
• Up the resolution. Even low-res cameraphones often use a default resolution much lower than the phone supports. You're giving up some much-needed pixels by not setting the resolution to something more reasonable.
