RAZR? Sidekick? iPhone? All of them are absurd. Motorola's sweet new DynaTAC 8000X will change everything you thought you knew about mobile communications.

The DynaTAC is a new kind of phone (called a "cellular" phone) that you can take with you wherever you go. With no wires to hold you back, you'll soon be making calls in your car, on the subway, or while just walking down the street: Just mind the envious stares from those passing by!

At a mere 1 pound, 12 ounces, the DynaTAC easily slips into a small briefcase, and its 10-inch-high profile is just as comfortable as the handsets that Ma Bell generously provides. There's even a handy antenna that juts out the top to provide for better reception. It's flexible and rubberized so you don't poke out your eyeball while making a telephone call.

It may take you a little time to get used to all the extra buttons you don't normally have on a 12-key phone: You'll have to push SND to send your call and END to end it. Another cool feature: Room for up to 30 "speed dial" numbers without a memory upgrade!

I'm confident that you'll figure it all out before the battery dies: A full 35 minutes of talk time allow for all the chit-chat you're likely to want to do away from your desk, and the DynaTAC conveniently recharges fully while plugged in overnight.

And did I mention how stylish the two-tone tan and gray handset is? It complements just about any business professional's attire, whether you're jetting to a board meeting or working in the lab. If that doesn't work for you, all-gray and all-tan versions are also available. At $3,995, the DynaTAC is well within the range of nearly everyone who needs to stay in touch, all the time.

Say hello to the DynaTAC! You'll never use a CB radio again!

LMAO! I used to own and use one of these! Boy, those were the good OLD days. There was also one that looked like a lunchbox with an antenna sticking out of the end that had a HUGE 2 hour battery. It weighed 6 lbs.

Why would anyone buy such a thing with all the lan line phones already in every home and office . This "cellular" phone thing will not sell.

It is refreshing to see that Mr. Null is writing about something he knows about for a change. That dribble last weekend about the new tech toys draining a car's battery and having to replace it sooner was the such crap. Thanks

I may get one for my teenage daughter, she will be the envy of all her friends. It even has plenty of space for fancy stickers and sparkly stuff. I will definitly get a "mom you are the best!"

I remember those. They were great when downtown if you were mugged you could beat your attacker with it, then call the police!
