These Are the Perverts in Your Neighborhood

As a father of two, I know how important it is to keep an awareness of my surroundings when it comes to child safety, whether that's paying extra attention at a dangerous intersection or making sure knives and other sharp objects are out of reach. I don't like to think about it, but being aware of sex offenders in the immediate area is also important.

Vision 20/20 is the latest service to offer free access to the national sex offender registry. It's also one of the most useful: Using a Windows Live Maps mashup, Vision 20/20 plots offender locations near any address you specify. Rollover a name to see where they live, what they did, and what they looked like when they got their mugshot taken. My nearest sex offender is a mere two blocks away.

Vision 20/20 also has an alert service that lets you get an email update when any new criminals move into your neighborhood.

This isn't the only service on the web to pinpoint sex offenders on the map. Family Watchdog isn't as pretty, but its plots include (some) work addresses as well, and they're color-coded by the type of offense. Many states offer their own search interfaces, too. Be aware that all this information is free: Don't get suckered by services that try to charge you money for neighborhood reports!

I commend you for having such information BUT you lack the intellengence of knowing where sex offenders come from. Most sex offenders come from around (within the household, 80+%). This is based upon Federal Statisticts B. Who I might inform the public that verifies such things. Sex offenders come from all backgrounds and don't even have a record by the majority. They have the least reoffending chance to reoffend than any other class (other than murderers). SO if your saying my child might be offended by a sex offender I would have to say your child has a better chance than mine based upon such statistics. It's time to grow up and face facts. Ignorance is bliss when one wants to point the finger the other way while politions steel the money and screw the public on so called "good feel" laws. Your child isn't safe because the sex offender is in your home or around the immediate circle of your friends. So how well do you know friends and family members and what are they thinking about doing next. It maybe the difference between your child being sexually abused.

I just saw an interview with Mark Lunsford. He is such a hypocrite. He's been pushing for strong laws for ALL SEX OFFENDERS and now his son was accused of a sex crime and DOES NOT have to be on the sex offender registry, why? Because of who he is, period... http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/2007/05/brother-of-jessica-lunsford-faces-sex.html Also, his other son appears to be a criminal as well: http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/2007/06/looks-like-mark-lunsfords-other-son.html Mark Lunsford had child porn on his machine, why was he not prosecuted? http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/2007/03/couey-trial.html There is another man, who lost his daughter (CoralRose) and he had child porn on his machine, guess where he is now? In prison, so why isn't Mark Lunsford? http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/2007/07/fl-father-of-slain-girl-pleads-no.html I am against abuse of any kind, but once someone is sentenced and does their time, they should be able to integrate into society and live a normal life, these sex offender registries do not allow that, they are punished for life, even for small crimes like urinating in public in a drunken stupor. What about murderers, drug dealers/users, gang members, DUI offenders, thieves, etc? Why don't we just have one CRIMINAL registry with ALL criminals on it, regardless of their crime? It's only fair. Right now, it's discrimination. So we can tell if our neighbors are murders, drug dealers/users, gang members, etc? You can read more of my thoughts (if you will) here: http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/2007/04/my-thoughts-sex-offender-law-issues.html And what about these people? I don't recall any news about them, why not? http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Celebrity http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Government http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Judge http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Lawyer http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Mayor http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Media http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Police http://sexoffenderissues.blogspot.com/search/label/%2FCrime-Probation Why do we not see the FACTS in the news? To instill fear for ratings maybe? Why do we not see all the above hypocrites on the news? These are the people who are suppose to be protecting us, from what? Them raping and molesting everyone? These laws, IMO, are a pre-cursor to see what the government can get away with, how many rights they can wipe out. And the sheeple are asleep and not even seeing it. What class of people will be next? Maybe you? Then I'm sure you will say "You know, that ZMan was right!"

Mmm, a lot of people listed in this registery (a) have never been charged with anything, (b) have zero criminal records, or (c) dont live there anymore. These records seem to only be based on the time of arrest and are not updated to reflect reality - I can see some lawsuits easily coming out of this.

This web site is inaccurate. I posted a name of a person I know is a sex offender and is on the National Sex Offender registry, Family WatchDog, etc, and they are not on this on. So what good is it??

i'm dissapointed in you chris null. you should know that acquittal doesn't equal innocence. And just as tragic conviction doesn't equal guilt. These are horrible horrible tools. Should you be aware of sex offenders? sure. Should you be able to track their every move? omg no. Unless you know the truth and were there at the trial hearing all the facts than it's not smart to assume that all the convictions are of horrible horrible persons that should never be trusted. That would be stupid. stupid stupid stupid stupid. stupid.
