10 Geek "Stocking Stuffers" (Really Big Stockings)

I'm finally taking a break writing my own holiday wish lists and instead linking to someone else's. Here's a nice list of some cool tech gear that I haven't seen on other lists... or anywhere else, really, for that matter.

TechNewsWorld offers its take here.

Some highlights from the list:

  • Pyramat Sound Rocker (pictured) - These are chairs with built-in speakers. They rumble when you're watching movies or, more importantly, playing video games. Enemy goes boom, you hear it. Nay, you feel it. (Never mind that a chair can't exactly fit in a stocking... few of these items actually can. But the gear is all relatively reasonably priced, so just roll with it, OK?)
  • Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick - It's a TV tuner in a USB stick that pulls both standard-def and high-def TV out of the air and into your laptop. Why didn't someone think of this before?
  • Samsung K5 - Yes, yet another MP3 player... but this one has built-in speakers that slide out from the case, a rarity for this category. Bonus: Touchscreen controls.
  • Trekstor Vibez - I've actually got a new media player from Trekstor that I'm going to to try to review for you guys this week. The Vibez is a cool-looking hard-disk-based player that comes in either 8GB, 12GB, or 15GB formats. Stay tuned for more Trekstor stuff!

There are some dogs on the list, I'm afraid (Pepper Pad? Ugh.), but on the whole it has some really good ideas. Give it a spin!

After reading about the HD PC tuner, I got excited. My laptop display can handle HD, so I thought this would be very cool. However, after searching the net, I discovered that pretty much all the user reviews on the Pinnacle PCTV are terrible. The hardware gets OK reviews, but their software and customer support are horrible. As a matter of fact, most of what Pinnacle produces gets terrible user reviews. As an alternative, I would look at the Hauppauge WINTV-HVR-950, which as luck would have it, is less expensive. Circuit City carries it for under $100.

Please help me. I'm looking for a trial program, that I can try, for a week, just to see, if it can handle , what my compt. has to put out. I wanted the AVG, but can't speak, with anyone to advise me, as to, which one is the best. I would like the sales technician to advise me as to, what to do, and which program !
