Excellent post. I was a heavy Y! Music Unlimited user, of both streaming music and downloads. I would love to receive MP3 files for all the songs I purchased on Yahoo. I've moved on to the Amazon Mp3 store and Last.fm in the meantime.

Did you not seeing this coming? Well, maybe it was a little early for this particular DRM service to go, but you had to know it was coming some day. That's what you get when you buy DRM.

I'm just waiting for someone to overtake the app-ire. Apple therefore not having enough money to sustain there now useless DRM servers decides to discontinue support, and the mass outcry from all the itunes users. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Can anyone tell me why they are ending the service in the first place? I've been using the subscription service for years and now they just decide they don't want to do it anymore? I just don't get it. I just hope I like Rhapsody as much as I did the Yahoo service...

drm means digital rights management which that if anyone bought drm files from yahoo or itunes can't play the purchased file on another software except for the software it was purchased from. rhapsody should be recommended for music lovers that hate drm bullcrap

Rhapsody has been a major headache for me so far. The songs that supposedly transfered over to Rhapsody I tried to burn on a CD, and was notified that I had to re-purchase them.

Yeah, KEYBOWVIO, that's a mature attitude. You chose to buy your music from a second rate online music service but that's not your fault...it's Apple's. Keep on waiting for your sad dream to come true. Meanwhile, the rest of the world will continue to use iTunes. Sometime there's a reason things are #1.
