Back in the day, the Sidekicks were among the most innovative phones around, what with their swiveling displays and killer messaging features. The Sidekick II blew me away back in mid-2004, so much so that I snapped one up for myself. But that was then, and this is now, and the Sidekick LX—updated though it may be—is looking pretty dated.

i agree 100% with u. but i still think they shoulda upped the cam alil bit more. the sk3 cam is/was kinda bad =/
I switched from the Sidekick II to the Blackberry Pearl. The only thing that I miss on the Sidekick is the keyboard. I thought they left out features to keep them affordable. With the $300 price tag I think they are losing their demographic.
I switched from the Sidekick3 to the BB Pearl and then back to Sidekick LX. Although in my opinion the BB is more feature rich device the Sidekick is FUN to use. Its the reason I keep going back to it even though there are some upgrades needed.
no touch screen? GOOD. That's the thing I hate the most about new phones & mp3 players coming out. If T-Mobile does ever switch to a touch SK I wil not buy it. And this is coming from a die hard MAC fan/user. But I will never purchase a touch screen ipod or iphone. Horrible "feature."
People with bias opinions shouldnt be allowed to write articles. instead of a sklx review this was an iphone comparison. i 100 percent agree that it does need somekind of faster interenet and that is lacking with the wifi and video. but even the i phone cant take video and the options for streeming it are just a bad version of youtube without even all the content. as far as navagation i open my web browser and type in. www.mapquest.com look to my right and find the address and im golden. so dont be lazy with your navigation crap the i phone honestly is the worst smart phone ever i would gladly take any of the other listed phones running windows mobile over it.
Why spend $400 on a new sidekick ...if you have SK3, when you can get a ipod for the same price and the LX does nothing really new. Besides light up on the side..hehe. No video same brower...give us oprea same sucky camra Ill wait till my contract is up and get a iphone or hopefully something better one thing for sure about the SK it is the best notes, texting and IM's hands down. Like tha last posters said I 2nd that
i agree with the very first comment too. and of course no touch screen is good. i will just stick to the trackball and the swivel with the full keyboard. i am so getting this phone. already had the sk3 tho.
I am online 24/7 too and don't even have an IM client on my phone! Its called SMS aim and is great. Sidekicks are for kids that don't know much about phones and have their mommy and daddy to pay the $300. For $300, it is a HUGE rip off. You can get a nokia s60 phone with full qwerty for $300 and it can do what the sidekick does when its turned off.
the sidekick lx is a great device! the only thing I really dislike is the keypad, I miss the keypad frum the sk 3. && I wish they would have upgraded aim, maybe allow us to send pics over aim or when the away message is up allow us 2 see our buddy list. but other than that the lx is great! the camera can b updated too! but really if u want && need all that wifi && junk && video get a cpu! or a laptop! the sidekick is not suppose to have features that a cpu can have. it's only but so much they can actually put in here without neglecting the real meaning of a sidekick! I mean if the sidekick had all the features at the iphone && curve, where would it's unique difference be!? I mean I prefer the sklx over the iphone && the iphone has it's pros && cons too! I WOULD recommend it to anyone!! especially younger ppl like myself!

The sidekick still remains the ONLY phone on the market that does IM properly. It dings in my pocket when I get a message and is always online. Until iPhone, Blackberry or some other vendor gets this right on a querty phone i'm sticking with the sidekick. iPhone has a touch screen? Big whoop, maybe if they actually did something useful with that touch screen I'd be more impressed. iPhone is next gen with no actual IM? SMS? How quaint. The sidekick could use some better updating, that's true, but as for what I need it to do, all other phones are still lagging sadly behind.
