The carrier announced that it's "suspending sales" of the newly released Slide after complaints that it powers off unexpectedly when you slide the screen open and closed. Oops.
A T-Mobile rep sent out an e-mail late Friday detailing the Slide's woes and promising that Motorola (maker of the Slide) is "working to identify the root cause" of the problem, which reportedly also wipes all data from the phone. The e-mail also states that other Sidekick models, including the new LX, aren't affected by the glitch.
So, what to do? If you're the unlucky owner of a bad Slide, contact T-Mobile; the carrier will either let you exchange it for the pricier Sidekick LX or apply the cost to another T-Mobile phone. No details on a cash refund, although I'd certainly expect T-Mobile to honor such a request.
I've had a test Slide for a couple of weeks and haven't had any trouble, even after repeatedly sliding the screen open and closed. Any Slide owners out there with problems?

my razor (slide) is messed up....i went into a tmobile phone and was told i would get a new one. i received that phone and it's WORSE than the first. at times the keypad locks up and wont let me enter any numbers or letters...i am supposed to be getting a new one in a few days...i'll probably go trade it in for the sidekick
I just got the Tmobile WIng and its way better then either sidekick. Just get that.
Why not just get the BlackBerry Curve? Way more reliable, make any song you download your ringtone for free, can get with or without a data plan, blue tooth stereo, 2mp camera, etc etc.... Get the wifi version and the HotSpot at home and you have it all !!
The slide on my child's swingset leans to one side.:)
OMG... that's hilarious donjonchi.
yo i am not like wat all of u r doin because most ppl jus dont tell us why did't u jus do that they mad dum
T Mobile has bad service so the phone does'nt matter
First of all, all phone have problems, and none of them are perfect. But as a former T-Mobile employee, let me say this: In general, Motorola phones do not have the hardware to support everything that the software asks them to do. This is why the phones have so many small glitches. You get a lot of features with Moto phones, but at the cost of lots of soft resets and tiny little problems. Also, everyone who works at T-Mobile hates the Sidekick line of handsets because T-Mobile Reps constantly have to face problems with them. When the Sidekick 3 came out, it was almost pulled from the shelves because the charging light didn't come on when it was charging! Combine Motorola with Sidekick, and you have a recipe for disaster. The Sidekick (Danger) server and software are inferior to Blackberry, so I would stick with the Pearl or the Curve. If you get the Pearl, MAKE SURE you get the latest software updates (free on the t-mobile.com website). With the latest software, the Pearl is an awesome handset. If you just want to be cool and not use the data features, I would look at Nokia phones, which are generally more sound.
don, tell your child to be careful. you dont want to hear about them scraping a knee =]
